what is art therapy ?

Art therapy is a form of psychotherapy that uses art-making as a way to explore thoughts, feelings and experiences.

It is similar to traditional talking therapy with the added opportunity to use creative processes to express your inner world.

Although creativity itself is healing, art therapy is a clinical profession. Qualified art therapists complete specialist postgraduate training and are registered with a professional body such as the HCPC, to ensure ethical and professional psychological support.

I am a HCPC registered, BAAT and CARTA accredited art psychotherapist.

I am also a multi-disciplinary artist and community worker.
I have always been interested in the intersection of art, wellbeing and education.

With a background in youth and play work, I studied at Queen Margaret University where I trained within high schools and the NHS. After qualifying in 2022, I have worked clinically in education and community settings.

I started artfully now to deliver warm, personalised art therapy.

I am particularly passionate about working with young people, students, and creatives. I think accessing therapy during education and youth is so transformative – for this reason I offer reduced rates to make it as accessible as possible.

My practice psychodynamic, trauma-informed and person-centred. This means therapy will always be uniquely tailored to each person. I work with people from all walks of life. My practice is inclusive and affirming of clients who identify as LGBTQIA+, neurodivergent, and BIPOC+
